Mount ritchey speedmax tires backward?

I'm switching to ritchey speedmax comp cross tires for winter commuting.They have ramped, V-shaped knobs in the center. When mounted in the direction suggested these knobs look to be made for traction but add a lot of rolling resistance. I'm thinking of mounting them backwards since I'll mostly be on paved and hopefully snow-plowed roads. I'm just wondering if the slanted side knobs will cause any problems running in the opposite direction.
