Filing back taxes?

I am filing my regular taxes this year, jointly, but I have two children that are just now getting Tax ID Numbers. I have been working on there numbers now for 4 years and I already know that I will get 3 years worth of back taxes as long as I show proof of guardianship for the past 3 years. I just need help on how to start the taxes.
