How do you sell a car effectively within a short time period and get the best value for it?

I have tried to sell my second car an Isuzu Rodeo 2000 for the past month with no luck. I really need to get rid of it. I have used craigslist and word of mouth...Is my remaining option to put an ad in the paper. It seems like no one is interested in buying it...
