On my messenger i cant delete where it shows you are online or off line it well only let me add why?

IT keeps puting it on my friends messenger and i told them not to clic it we cant even read it so how do i delete it because it well only let me add and now every time i sign on it comes up and dont say online i have to change it every time help.
